Best Animal-Friendly Deodorants
I have two cruelty-free deodorants that I love. Most "natural" deodorants don't seem to work very well and kind of leave a constant wet feeling under your arms. They also aren't usually antipersperants (which actually stop you from sweating) and are just regular deodorants, which mainly work to mask B.O.
Certain Dri is the only cruelty-free antipersperants that I know of that you can buy at Target. We have actually already reviewed the company because we were able to distribute Certain Dri coupons at our last Cruelty-Free Campus event, so you can check out what we had to say in this post. Just to reiterate: Certain Dri is GREAT for nasty swampy Williamsburg weather, whether you're running between classes, working out or taking it easy. Make sure to read the directions because technically this is considered clinical strength and should be used as directed. It also comes in roll on or solid. If you just want to try the everyday strength, they also have that option. Picture from website.
Primal Pit Paste offers a great all natural, organic option and as a company, they are very transparent about their methods (check out their ingredient list here). All handcrafted, these pots (or buy the stick option) of natural deodorant definitely work, especially for day-to-day use. The nice thing about the pot packaging is that it is more environmentally friendly (yay for recycling!) and a lot more hygienic. It comes in light, regular and strong so depending on how your body reacts to baking soda you can test out different options to suit your needs. They also have super fun scents like coconut lime, jacked up jasmine, lavender, orange creamsicle, patchouli, primal spice, royal & rogue, lemonade, thyme & lemongrass and unscented so you have lots of options. I am currently using the lavender one and love it. Definitely affordable for $8.95 a pot (which will last you a while) on their website. Picture from website.
Other deodorants that I have heard good things about from multiple sources (but have not personally tried) include Lavanila (available at Sephora) and Schmidt's (available from their website or Vegan Cuts).
