Great Volunteering Opportunity!
Volunteering at the Heritage Humane Society is such a rewarding experience. These are the sweetest animals who just need love while they wait for their forever home. And the HHS team is an amazing group of people that is great to work with.  Once you go through a brief orientation, you can go as often as you like! And it is less than a 15 minute drive from campus so it is really easy to slip in a visit between classes if you want.  This is also a great institution to regularly dedicate time to if you have any volunteering requirements for organizations or things of that nature.

Volunteer Activities

  • Socializing (aka playing with!) dogs, cats, puppies and kittens - always encouraged and appreciated

  • 8am and 2pm scheduled dog walking (you can also stop by and walk the dogs at other times)

  • Cleanup (cages, dishes, laundry, etc.)

  • Feeding

  • Administrative assistance (filing and the such)

  • Offsite event help

  • Landscaping

  • Foster care

You can do as many or as few of these as you want. And you can go as frequently or as infrequently as you like - join us in a SFA-organized trip or head over on your own or with a friend! They are honestly just looking for people to help out with a great cause and cuddling with a kitten is a great way to take a break from campus life/studying.

These are just a few of the cuties in need of your love while they wait for their forever homes!

At the moment we are trying to pick a weekly/monthly volunteer plan at the Heritage Humane Society. We will be planning a specifc volunteer orientation for Students for Animals (or any W&M student that is interested.  When we pick the day, check the calendar.
